The purpose of this animated logo is to adjust the tone of Xbox’s current marketing campaign.
Taking a step back and letting the accomplishments of XBOX speak for themselves is a more inclusive and less gendered or personality-specific approach to rekindling the existing loyalty that consumers have for the brand, as well as bringing in the ones that have felt marginalized by the overt masculinity of the marketing so far. The animation brings together the best, most recognizable pieces of the brand to create a short, powerful reminder of who XBOX is and all that they’ve given to the gaming community.
The project was to create a flat vector motion graphic that included branding aspects. It was also the project that introduced me to AfterEffects, which I found surprisingly intuitive.
The concept for this logo animation is to give a succinct and powerful account of XBOX’s most famous and outstanding creations in a span of less than fifteen seconds. This is a low-aggression approach that will delight those that know the games and intrigue those that do not. Nostalgia is an extremely powerful selling force in the gaming community and is also one of the more understandable reasons that gaming is popular throughout such a large age range, for those that do not partake.
